Here is the latest project completed in July of 09.  This piece is made of 6 individual units.  It measures 13' wide and is 1" shy of six foot.  The outer most units are 2' wide and 1' deep, next are the two angled units 2' 6" wide and 2' deep at the desk.  The desk is 5' wide and the desk top is 32" off the floor.

The lower draw on each side have rods for hanging file folders.  The top center draw is actually two draws in one.  The draw can be open normally having a shallow draw or the front can be hinged down allowing a keyboard shelf to be used.

This is a home office using a modified kitchen design.  The uppers are 30" cabinets with 10" openings below.  The bases are only 27 3/4" with a 1 1/2" top which made for a 29 1/4" desk height.  Filing rails are in the lower draws, and one will even hold legal and letter size files.  A lazy susan in the corner also makes easy access with out having to get out of the chair.

There was no reason to start small.  The first cabinet I built was 5 sections, 3 feet wide and floor to ceiling.  It had to be built inside the office because of the size and limited stairs and hallways.  The entire face is made of solid red oak except for the panels in the doors which are stained glass on the top and 1/4" birch plywood on the bottom.  The inside is made of 3/4" red oak plywood.

Each section, except the center, has a sliding pull out desk surface and a small hinged storage space.  I have also been told that the pull out works great for the "Friday buffets" at work.  The steep angle of the lid on the storage space ensures that nothing can be set on it which helps to keep a clean office look.  Also, there is no support to hold the lid open; for the picture I propped something in there, a pencil I think.

This book case has 14 adjustable shelves. It goes floor to ceiling.  The width is 5'  and the depth is 1'.
